Johannesburg

Multiple days in Johannesburg? Rent a car and hit that safari!
It takes you some time to find out what lodge you want to stay, but it’s definitely worth it. We chose for Entabeni, Lake Side Lodge and really recommend it.
We rented a car and drove there. When we arrived we were welcomed very politely and were escorted to our huts. Tip: Ask for a hut with a fire place.
At 1PM lunch was served, followed by some coffee, ready for the game drive.
Tip: bring warm cloths! After sunset and before sunrise it will be freeeeeezing. Mark my words.
In a comfortable Jeep your ranger will drive through the park to find some wild life. They have everything walking around, so be prepared to see some and have your camera ready!
After the drive you will have diner and go to bed early as the morning drive will be at 6AM. This early drive is focused on finding some lions! We were lucky and saw them; daddy lion, mommy lioness and baby twin cubs. Amazing!
After this long (and cold) game drive, there will be breakfast waiting for you at the lodge.
Check-out time is at 11AM.
A perfect 48 hour layover for flight crew, don’t you think!?

Other lodges recommended by KLM crew, check it out:

One day in Johannesburg?

You can go on a one day safari with Dean (https://www.facebook.com/Dean-von-Brughan-Tours-209043042779072/) to park ‘Pilanesberg’. He has very flexible and cool packages for a good price. He knows a lot about nature, animals and South-Africa in general. Seen enough parks and safaris? Just ask him about the other tours, he has enough!

OR

Go for the Soweto bike tour (www.sowetobackpackers.com). You will be picked up, cycle around for 4 hours (less hours is possible) and lunch (R530). The guides know what they are talking about and they are very enthusiastic, they will give you lots of information about Johannesburg!
